Over the
course of the twentieth century we’ve ignored God's original intent, His design,
for lasting love. This neglect has created a desert of broken marriages, as well
as a mountain of incredible heartache. Happiness in marriage begins long before
you say, “I do.” By rediscovering and practicing the divine design for Christian
courtship before marriage, Catholic singles help ensure lasting
love and fulfillment in marriage.
Definition of Honorable
Courtship
Courtship is a relationship in the context
of family life between a [young] man and a woman seeking a partner for
marriage. The purpose of courtship is to discover if it is God’s will for
them to enter the sacrament of marriage. Courtship presupposes that both
the young man and woman are spiritually, emotionally, and financially ready for
marriage.
The Call for Honorable Courtship - CCC
1632
"It is imperative to give suitable and timely
instruction to young people, above all in the heart of their own families, about
the dignity of married love, its role and its exercise, so that, having learned
the value of chastity, they will be able at a suitable age to engage in honorable courtship and enter upon a marriage of their
own."
